Bruce MacKenzie Brown
1946-2025
With deep sadness we announce the passing of Bruce, at his home, with his family by his side.
He will be lovingly remembered and profoundly missed by Brenda (Noonan), his wife of 53 years; his children, Christie and Ryan (Tara Carlin); and his granddaughters, Emma and Alyson. Bruce also leaves behind his loving sister, Janet (Blair Clendenning); his sisters- and brothers-in-law, Ann Noonan (Barry Mooney) and Kevin Noonan (Anne Wells); and his nieces and nephews: Jaime and Michael Clendenning; Kieran (Ashleigh) and Meaghan Mooney; and Michael (Marcia) and Jennifer Noonan.
Born in Winnipeg to Bruce Sr. and Mary-Rose Mackenzie, they moved to Montreal when Bruce was 3, settling in Lachine where he lived most of his life. He had a 35-year career at Royal Trust and later RBC, retiring in 2010. He delighted in tending to his tomato garden, walking and cycling along the lakeshore, golfing, and travelling with Brenda. He assumed the role of grandfather with ease and took great pleasure doting on his girls. Excellent BBQ’er and host, he was a great friend to many and was at his best enjoying time with them. He was known for his quick wit, and sense of humor. Even during his short battle with pancreatic cancer, Bruce was always ready with his beautiful smile or a perfectly timed joke.
The family wish to extend sincere appreciation to everyone at St. Mary’s Hospital, CLSC Lachine, and NOVA West Island who supported them with compassionate care. Special thanks to Drs. Chabot, Ozen, Basile, Dalfen, and Tataryn, and to the incredible nurses Benni, Mimy, Emily, Dominique, and Nancy, whose kindness will not be forgotten.
Visitation will be held at Lakeshore Cardinal Funeral Home (560 Bord-du-Lac, Dorval, H9S 2B3) on Friday, May 30, from 2:00–5:00pm and 7:00–9:00pm, and on Saturday, May 31, at 10:30am. A celebration of life will take place in the chapel beginning at 11:30am with a reception to follow.
In honour of Bruce, donations to the St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation or NOVA West Island are sincerely appreciated.

I have known Bruce since we met in 1964-1965 when we represented our schools. A few years later we met up again when Bruce was dating Brenda! Bruce has always been a great Dad, wonderful friend and a master of the the BBQ.
Bruce was not only a friend but truly family, a brother. What can be said, save that we are truly missing him and his presence in our lives and in the lives of all that know him. He will be sorely missed yet never forgotten. Our hearts go out to Brenda, Christie, Ryan, Tara, Emma and Ally. Love to all.
My sincere condolences to the family. May he rest in peace. Joan
