Juliette Francavilla
1927 – 2025
Juliette Cecile Francavilla, age 98, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025. Julie was born on January 1, 1927, and grew up in Lachine, Quebec with her Italian parents and seven siblings.
As a young adult, Julie delighted in strolling along Saint Catherine’s Street in Montreal. Window shopping was a cherished pastime for her, allowing her to admire the latest trends and styles displayed in the shop windows.
Julie began her working life at the neighbourhood pharmacy, where she spent her early years as an employee. This experience provided her with valuable skills and allowed her to become a familiar face within the community. After her working years, Julie made the decision to remain in her childhood home. Even as her family members moved on to new places, she continued to live simply and modestly in the house where she was raised.
Julie took pride in keeping the house and yard nothing short of immaculate, a reflection of her character and values. Julie’s attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a very clean and tidy environment demonstrated her deep sense of responsibility and care for her home.
Julie’s was adept with her sewing machine and found pleasure in mending her own clothes and finding new uses for items, demonstrating her practical nature and commitment to making the most of what she had.
As a devoted aunt, Julie was always ready to step in and care for her nieces and nephews whenever needed. Her love for children was evident in the thoughtful way she kept a selection of board games for them, ensuring there was always something fun to do.
Phone conversations with Julie were always memorable ones to say the least. She would spend long periods sharing amusing anecdotes, discussing the latest fashions and trends, or offering her perspective on current events. Her phone conversations, although often one sided, were a source of connection, always filled with lively stories and lasting memories.
Even as Julie advanced in age and settled into her residence, she remained actively engaged in her day-to-day life for as much as she could. Supported by her team of caretakers, Julie contributed to her surroundings in meaningful ways such as caring for the garden, attentively tending to plants, where she received notoriety in the local paper. Julie also found joy in painting. While she enjoyed putting brush to canvas, she was also known for offering advice and sharing her opinions on how painting should be approached. Each of these hobbies helped to bring purpose and meaning to Julie’s life, enriching her daily routine and offering her a sense of fulfilment.
Julie was predeceased by her siblings, Adele (Jimmy), Silvio, Mario, Romeo (first wife Helene, second wife Lise), Lucia (Nicolas), Raymond (Monique), and Armand (Jaqueline). She is survived by eleven nieces and nephews. Her kindness, laughter and love will be remembered to all those she touched.
Thank you to the caregivers at the Pavillions Lasalle and the CHSLD Lasalle for looking after her well-being over the years.
