In Loving Memory of Rick Flood

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Rick Flood on March
3rd, 2026.
Rick leaves behind his devoted wife, Yaprak Kant, his cherished daughter Danika (Chris),
and his dear son Denver (Giulia). He will be deeply missed by his brothers and sisters, Jane,
Tom, Dave, Joe, and Cathy, as well as his many friends and all who knew him.
Rick was a devoted husband, a proud father, a beloved brother-in-law, and a loyal friend to
many. His sudden departure has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family and
friends.
Those who knew Rick will remember his stubborn streak, his reliability, and his quick
humour. He had a special way of teasing those close to him—often calling them
“donkeys”—a nickname that somehow carried both mischief and affection.
Rick will be remembered for his love, strength, and the lasting impact he made on those
around him.
He built a meaningful life through hard work and dedication. Rick was always busy and
always building something—whether working on cars, renovating homes, or helping others
with their projects. He was happiest when he had something to fix or create.
The family will receive condolences on Sunday, March 8th, at Lakeshore Cardinal Funeral
Home, 560 Lakeshore Drive, Dorval, H9S 2B3, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., followed by a
short service in the chapel. Please join us for a toast in Rick’s memory at 6:00 p.m.

  6. Dear Yaprak,

I am so shocked to read this saddest news, Dear Yaprak and family. I wish there was some way or some words we could express to help relieve the pain you are all feeling at the loss of such a vibrant, fun-loving, amazing husband and Dad. And at such a young age. We’ve known your family for decades of course (RIP Sheila Parkins). Johan and I spent some time with Rick at his garage a few times during these dance years as well. He was always ready with the jokes and the helping hand, friendly advice, generous heart. He worked so hard! And let’s face it, he was a gorgeous human, inside and out! And the houses he built, oh Lordy! Next level, I would say estate-level would not be exaggerating. Was there anything he couldn’t do? Not counting all he did that most of us did not even know about: helping people behind the scenes, out of the limelight. Of course I don’t have to tell you how special he was! I hope he knows he made a positive difference in so many people’s lives. Now you, his beautiful family, his precious legacy, must find the strength to carry on bravely and proudly, knowing his spirit is there lifting you every step of the way. Sending you the biggest hugs in the universe.

  9. Dear Yaprak, Denver, and Danika,
Rick’s passing has left us utterly heartbroken. We were so fortunate to share so many wonderful moments together in Montreal and Nassau, and it is hard to believe that we were together just the day before he left us. Rick had a way of appearing tough on the outside, but those who truly knew him understood that he possessed one of the biggest hearts of anyone we had ever met. His quiet gestures of kindness were profound and deeply touching, often done without seeking any recognition. His dry sense of humor was unforgettable, no one made Johnny laugh the way Rick did. They spoke every day, and their friendship meant the world to Johnny. Rick has left a tremendous hole in our hearts, but we will always stand by you, Yaprak and your beautiful children, Denver and Danika. Rick’s loyalty knew no bounds, and we will honour his memory by being there your family.

    We love you ,

    Stephanie & Johnny

  18. My condolences to the family.

Losing a friend from your childhood/adolescence is like losing a part of your history. Rick was a constant in our lives and I came home to our house in Lachine on more than one occasion finding Rick sitting in our kitchen chatting with my Mom. Rick had just dropped by and decided to stay.

Yaprak, Danika and Denver and the entire Flood family, there are no words for such a loss, words cannot express how sorry I am. Our thoughts are with you
