Philippe Canellis
1941-2026
It is with great sadness that we announce that Philippe Canellis died on January 31, 2026. Philippe died peacefully at Lakeshore General Hospital in Pointe Claire, Quebec in his 84th year. Philippe was predeceased by his wife Hazel (nee Dyer) Canellis and is survived by his two daughters Elizabeth and Susan Canellis.
Philippe was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt to a large and loving family. He moved to Athens, Greece where he met and married his wife Hazel. They moved to Canada and settled in Montreal. Philippe loved language, history, music and travel, leading many to comment that he was an educated and interesting conversationalist.
Although Philippe struggled with Parkinson’s he lived independently in his beloved home of 20 years at Maison Donalda Boyer in Dorval, Quebec. In gratitude of the kindness and generosity of the residents, staff and volunteers a donation in Philippe’s memory to Maison Donalda Boyer would be greatly appreciated.
