Bernard A Power
1919 – 2026
It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Bernard Power at age 106, on January 14, 2026. He passed peacefully at the St. Eustache Hospital, QC after a brief illness, surrounded by family. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Pauline (nee Coty) in 2012 and daughter Joan in 2019. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Mike (Ruth Hall), Christine and Mark (Mariette Vincent), and his grandchildren: Ben (Anne Huang), Kate and Luke (Lissette Abarca).
Bernard was a dedicated husband and father with a lifelong passion for scientific discovery and invention. A meteorologist by profession, he served the RCAF in Newfoundland during WWII, the federal service and as a private consultant internationally for decades. His curiosity and giftedness as a theoretician kept him thinking, studying, writing, inventing, patenting and publishing* in many fields such: cloud seeding, tornado formation, the Shroud of Turin authenticity, the theory of energy compressibility, cosmology, as well as air flow physics with applications to mitigate climate change. He continued his work right until the end of his life.
The family thanks the staff at Sunrise de Fontainebleau, Blainville and the St. Eustache Hospital for their professionalism and many kindnesses in caring for him.
Visitation will be held on March 25 at Lakeshore Cardinal Funeral Home (560 Lakeshore Drive, Dorval, QC H9S 2B3) from 2 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm, with a funeral on March 26 at St. Veronica’s church (1300 Ave. Carson, Dorval, QC H9S 1M6) at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choosing would be much appreciated.
