So many great memories. My sons, Chris and Ryan were very fond of him. Along with great conversations, stories, Ryan also remembers the magic tricks.
I know you are up there playing your trumpet and my Mom and Dad, along with others are listening to the beautiful music.
    Rest in peace, forever remembered.
    Lynne, Chris and Ryan.

    1. Thanks Lynne. Great and loving memories are a treasure. Lol. He had many of those magic tricks up his sleeve. Especially the one where he blew on a pencil or a cigarette to make it roll away and all kids were amazed and wondered how he did it. He is blowing his heart out now for everyone. 🎺❤️ bless his heart.

  9. Jesse was a beautiful soul.from the day I met him he made me feel like I had know him for years. He just loved to vibe and be in the moment. I will say a prayer for an old friend. I know you’re playing some beautiful music with the greats up in heaven.

Sending my most heartfelt sympathies to Cheryl and the entire Nance family; may God comfort you in your sadness and give you peace. Jesse will be remembered not only for his musical talent but for his beautiful and gentle soul and his sweet kindness – he will surely be missed by all.

    1. Thanks Francina. He certainly loved all of my BMO dear friends. I know could chat his ass off too when he saw you all as he felt you all were his friends as well. What do they say … what’s mine is yours and what yours is mine. He applied that to you all and I found that so cute. 🥰

    Jesse,
May you find peace and comfort in eternal rest. You were loved, respected and will be missed by many.
My late husband, Ernie, and I were always grateful of your knowledge and patience in teaching our son, Justin, how to play his first musical instrument, the trumpet. You and Justin played Amazing Grace at my mother’s funeral service, a tribute that was touched and loved by family and friends who were there.
Ernie, always got a kick out of you saying he “is your brother from another mother”! Great memories of you two coming up with ways to construct or fix things (in most cases MacGyverism at it’s best). Then planning your next project whether it be at our home or yours, you two always had another “fix-it” in mind. I believe you both have reunited and are planning your next adventure with tools!
Heartfelt condolences to Cheryl and Jesse’s family.
    Much love, Joy

    1. Thank you my dear friend. Ernie our dear long time friend of about 43 years or so is forever in our hearts. 💕 They will fix things up there for sure. I loved all that you wrote and giggled at the MacGuiverisms. How true that was. In the years before Jesse’s surgery even Ernie was like sometimes amused or sometimes 🤦‍♀️ at Jesse’s ideas of fixing things. He would tell him and was gracious to say that won’t work Jesse, we should go this route and Jesse would agree. Lol. Thanks for the memories.

  12. Lendozia Edwards

Rest well, Daddy. You can play Amazing Grace day and night now. Until we meet again, know that I love you and will forever carry you in my heart.

    Your daughter, Farina ❤️

    1. Oh girl. He loved you too. Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound. Was certainly his song to play for all who passed to honour them in his special way. He is playing it over and over now. 🎺 ❤️

  13. Carlyle and Tracie Robinson

Sending the biggest prayers to the family of Mr. Nance.
May God grant you strength, comfort and peace in this difficult time.

  14. A true joy and privilege to have been able to gig, write and play/jam with Jesse musically; and riding to and from the gigs together pretty well cemented the brotherhood. He helped me become an even better musician. Just hanging out with Jesse, and Cheryl were just as much fun.
My only mistake was to bring him home one day, because after that day, I always suspected that my mom might have loved Jesse a little bit more than she loved me : )

Although it remained pledged to Cheryl, Jesse’s heart always seemed to have enough room for everybody . . . what a gift ! , and a tribute to his own dear mother, Mattie Belle.

Age, illness, circumstances haven’t permitted our getting together the last couple of years but Jesse will always be counted first among my closest friends, and I thank God for giving us such a wonderful, kind man.

Cheryl, very much love to you especially now; yet always.

  15. I have known Jesse since the 9th grade in Nashville TN. I knew him to be a fun loving, kind and a musical, trumpet playing genius. He will be missed by many. Rest well my brother.

    1. Thanks Wesley. He respected and was honoured your long time friendship. Would proudly show off the picture from 1964 of the 3 buds that you gave him to everyone here in Canada when you got together in Nashville. His face was beaming with pride of true friends from way back in the day. Priceless it was. Love you. ❤️

  16. Jesse was one of the kindest people on this earth. You are going to be missed by so many. He would call me his brother from a different mother. Well brother rest in peace.
