Sandra Kathryn Parekh (Sandy)
May 9, 1942 – March 14, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Sandra Kathryn Parekh (nee Hammond) whose warmth and kindness brought comfort to all who knew her. Beloved wife of the late Dino Parekh (2016), cherished mother of Neisha (Brett), Sonalee (Andrew), Natasha (Guillaume) and Tej Trevor (Samantha). Devoted and loving grandmother to Justin, Lucas, Sebastian, Sam, Mila, Josephine and Charlotte, who were the lights of her life.
Sandy never lost her voracious appetite for reading and learning. Whilst her education began modestly in a one room school house in Elora Ontario, she was one of two students who went on to university at Western, where she continued to excel academically, eventually being accepted into a Masters program at the University of Ottawa. This allowed her to pursue her passion for helping others as a Social Worker in Boston, and then Montreal, where she met her belated, beloved husband Dino. Being there for others was a permanent fixture in Sandy’s life, and something she always continued to do with selfless generosity and a full heart.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate her life on Friday March 21st at 3pm at the Lakeshore Cardinal Funeral Home, 560 Lakeshore Drive, Dorval, H9S 2B3, followed by a reception.
