Dorothy Loynachan Leddie, nee Ferguson
1943 – 2025
Dorothy died at the Veteran Centre of Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto after a devastating and mercifully short struggle with a malignant brain tumour.
Dorothy grew up in Montreal, went to Montreal West High School and graduated from McGill University. She had a long and successful career enployed by the federal government in Toronto.
After retiring, Dorothy led many Thomas Cook tours from the U.K across Canada and the Eastern seaboard. She loved her second career. Dorothy spent many years travelling between Canada and her beloved Scotland where she had a home in St. Monans.
Dorothy died peacefully in the presence of close family. She will be missed by family and close friends in Toronto, Lunenburg, NS, London, ON, and Dundee, Scotland.
She will be remembered for her bons mots, dry wit and zest for life and travel.
May she rest in peace.
As per Dorothy’s wishes, the burial will be private.

Rest In Peace Dorothy. You lived your life your way. Bravo! Lynn
This was indeed very sad and shocking news. I worked with Dorothy and while I did not know her as well as many colleagues, I knew her dry wit and love of travel. Deepest condolences to Dorothy’s family and dear friends. Yes, may she rest in peace.
Rest in Peace my dear classmate – I enjoyed hearing about your Toronto-St. Monans commute and we shared some great jokes
Dorothy ~ your independence and ‘joie de vivre’ were what I admired the most about you. I have very fond memories of our family trip to Mexico a few years back – where we bonded in an informal way and got to spend some time together. You lived a very rich and interesting life and I am both sorry and grateful that the end came so quickly for you. I would have loved to have had the opportunity to have another family getaway with you there! Rest in peace, dear cousin xox
Had the pleasure of working with Dorothy in the federal government and she was a very smart and classy lady. Also met up with her at her home in Scotland and really enjoyed seeing her there.
I first met Dorothy in grade 10 when we were both students at the Montreal West High School. After going our separate ways – in career and living arrangements, we reconnected at reunions. This led to exchanges of jokes and cartoons via email for the last several years. I always enjoyed her comments re politics, Trump and the state of the world. Will miss her lively remarks, as I always looked forward to emails that she authored. Dr.John Mount
Dorothy, you have left me with great memories. We helped each other go through difficult times over the years but always remained close friends. I can think of all the laughs we shared, the countries we visited and the many G&Ts we relaxed with. You will always share a special place in my heart. Gone too soon and I miss knowing you are not a telephone call away. As the Irish blessing goes. “ May the wind be at your back”.
