Deirdre Sonia Drum
1929-2025
With great sadness, we share the news that Deirdre Sonia Drum (Nee Pryce) passed away on August 15, 2025. Loving mother to her daughter, Holli, as well as to all her wonderful dogs; sister of the late Clive Pryce (Roselle); beloved wife of the late Gordon Drum.
Deirdre was born & raised in Montreal & attended Montreal High School where she graduated in 1947. She met Gordon at the 20/30 Club and they were married on January 1st, 1951 at St. Matthew’s Church in Hampstead.
Deirdre worked at Bell Canada and as a pre-school teacher for over 15 years with the Dorval CO-OP. She was an avid volunteer, always giving back to her community, working with various organizations such as Girl Guides of Canada, Meals on Wheels, Friends of the Dorval Library, Lachine & Lakeshore General Hospital’s women’s auxiliary, as well as The Montreal Institute for the Blind, reading the newspaper to the visually impaired.
Deirdre was a life member with the Lakeshore Players Dorval community theatre group. She was, at times, a Board member, ran the box-office and was also a make-up artist to the stars. She was also very involved with the church, especially with Pastoral Care.
Deirdre and Gordon were members of the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club & enjoyed spending time on their sailboat and playing tennis. She will always be remembered for her keen fashion sense, never leaving the house without her signature white hair perfectly coiffed, nails perfectly manicured and a matching lipstick to complete the look.
Dee was a real lady, who loved to laugh and hear a good story. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
A special thank you to the staff of Sacré-Cœur Hospital, who were so kind, gentle and compassionate during Deirdre’s last days.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 9 to 10:30 AM at Lakeshore Cardinal Funeral Home, 560 Lakeshore, Dorval, H9S 2B3 (514-631-1511), followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Deirdre’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Montreal (https://alzheimermontreal.ca/en/donate/) or any animal rescue organization of your choosing.
