Max Tomlinson

1930-2026

The family of H.M. Tomlinson are sad to announce his death on August 29, 2026 at the age of 95 years.

Max Tomlinson was born at St. John’s Newfoundland in 1930. He was the youngest son of Arthur Jay “Tommy” Tomlinson and Helen Marian Tomlinson (née Barnes). Max outlived his siblings Barbara Ann (Jim Davies), Marian (James Ellis) and Arthur. He was a professional engineer having obtained his civil engineering degree from the Technical University of Nova Scotia, after attending Memorial University of Newfoundland. He spent much of his career developing hydroelectric plants in Canada, United States and the Caribbean.

He was a loving husband for 67 years to the late Monique (née Desjardins) and a wonderful and beloved father to Ed Tomlinson (Rosa), Audrey Goddard (Graham), and Kim Carter (Murdoch). He was a grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of three. He is also survived by his many dear nieces and nephews.

Thank you to the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living Residence for almost two years of loving care. Thank you to the staff at Lakeshore General Hospital for his palliative care and for handling his health concerns over the years.

A memorial will occur on October 27th, 2026 at Lakeshore Cardinal Funeral Home, 560 Bord-du-Lac-Lakeshore, Dorval, H9S2B3. Visitation will start at 10 am followed by a memorial service at noon. Max and Monique will rest in peace together at La Tuque, Quebec, where they first met. Donations to the Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice would be much appreciated.
