William John Evert
1938 – 2025
John (Billy) Evert passed away peacefully at home on August 30th, 2025 after a short illness. He is survived by his wife Sonia, daughters Kim and Philippa, sisters Shirley and Dulice, and grandchildren Ashleigh, Nicholas, Logan, and Stella. He will be greatly missed.
Born in Brakpan, South Africa, John excelled academically and athletically before pursuing studies in Canada, where he earned degrees in mathematics, geography, and chemistry. He went on to co-found several successful companies in the plastics industry, including Rochevert Inc., Serviplast Ltée, and QST Inc.
A man of many passions, John enjoyed flying, golf, tennis, travel, stamp collecting, vintage cars, and proudly summited Mount Kilimanjaro in 1995. He also established scholarships in South Africa and Canada, helping over 100 students to pursue a higher education that otherwise would have been out of their reach.
John and Sonia celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this May. His legacy of achievement, determination, generosity, sense of humour and love of family will be fondly remembered.
A celebration of life will be held on September 26th at 1 p.m. at The Forest and Stream Club, Dorval.
