John Francis Moore
(Arctic John)
1935 – 2025
It is with a heavy heart that Judi Parker, wife and best friend, announces the passing of her beloved husband, John Francis Moore on July 12, 2025 at the age of 89, following a brief illness.
John was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London, Ontario to Frank Moore and Veronica Cloghesy. In 1942, he and his family relocated to Montreal, where he grew up in Côte-des-Neiges, N.D.G., and Westmount.
John built a successful business career, but his greatest joys came from family and adventure. He leaves behind his wife and best friend, Judi Parker; his daughters Jennifer (Edward), Kathryn (Robert), and Erica (Ryan); his sisters Pat (Ron) and Moira; his grandchildren Nicolas, Jake, and Emma; and Jane Burnell-Jones, the mother of his children, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Jim.
An avid outdoorsman and having worked on the DEW Line in the Arctic for a couple of years (earning him the nick name ‘Arctic John’), John’s passions included camping in the Maritimes and New England, downhill skiing across Canada, Europe, and the United States, and, in retirement, unforgettable Caribbean and Mediterranean cruises with Judi. He was one of the original members of the Martian Ski Club of St. Sauveur and an active member of the NDG Kinsmen and Erin Sports Club. Though he enjoyed football, hockey, baseball, and golf, skiing remained his true passion.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. John will be cremated, with a private interment at the Moore family plot in Côte des Neiges Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Lakeshore Cardinal Funeral Home, 560 Bord-du-Lac Lakeshore in Dorval on July 24th from 2-5 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date.
John’s warmth, generosity, humor and zest for life touched all who knew him and he will be dearly missed.
