Elaine Hazard Hemsworth
1932-2025
The message we all knew would come, but did not want to get.
Our precious Mum/Nana/Elaine/Mrs. H. passed peacefully December 25, 2025 after experiencing health issues during the last 6 months. She was not alone in her transition to the great beyond (of which she said it better be great). Elaine is now an angel watching over us. And she’s fine.
Take comfort knowing that Elaine is reunited with her father Earnest Hazard (whom she missed greatly), her mother Nan Kling, and many fantastic aunts, uncles, and cousins that were so important during her formative years. They all contributed to her upbringing and made Elaine the amazing lady we knew – strong, resilient and always positive. She faced every challenge head-on with dignity and grace.
Elaine, predeceased by her son Ronnie, will be greatly missed by her children Peter, Tricia, Russell, Dianne, and Warren (Vanessa); her grandchildren Erin (Chris), Curtis, Brenda, Daniel, Marisa, and Trevor; and her great-grandchildren Coltyn and Aspyn. She will also be deeply missed by her extended family, including her second cousins Donna and Bonnie, and by all those she lovingly took in under her wing over the years, including Valerie (Denis) and her children, Christopher, Cheryl and Nich.
Before starting her family, Elaine worked in her father’s photography store, Iris Studios, in Montreal. She chose marriage and dedicating her life to raising her children over her desire to travel Europe – a dream she later fulfilled as her children grew older and more independent.
Elaine was very much included in the lives of her children and grandchildren as a super fun and nurturing Mum and Nana, admired for her generosity and great sense of humour. Elaine loved camping (even in the rain), bowling, knitting, welcoming stray cats into her home and building puzzles (especially when we would join her in building them).
We’re all very happy to have known her, to have loved her and to have been loved by her.
Her funeral service will be Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Lakeshore Cardinal Funeral Home, 560 Lakeshore Drive, Dorval, H9S 2B3.

My deepest sympathies on the passing of your mother. She was a great lady and a good friend to my Mother. She will always be fondly remembered by me, and Mum.
I have such wonderful memories of your mom (her kindness, humour, painting the yellow room, the camping coffee cake with the nut free section!) I was saddened to hear the news of her passing. She was terrific and I know will be dearly missed. My deepest sympathies to you all.
