Denyse Estelle Séguin-Valentine
(1931 – 2026)
Denyse Estelle Séguin-Valentine passed away peacefully on February 15 in the Palliative Care Unit of Lakeshore General Hospital, to the beautiful sounds of Luciano Pavarotti. She was born in Outremont on April 30, 1931, the eldest daughter of Estelle Dumont and Raymond Séguin.
Raised with strength and grace by her mother and maternal grandmother, Denyse embodied those same qualities throughout her life. As a young woman she studied Fine Arts before training in Accounting, a field in which she worked until retirement while raising her three boys in Dorval.
Denyse’s love of art and refined sense of style were evident to all who knew her. She always looked her best and carried herself with effortless elegance. Her interests were many and varied. Alongside her love of opera, especially Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi, she enjoyed golf and tennis, and was an enthusiastic viewer of tennis and figure skating. She was an avid bridge player (attaining the title of Master) who also took on administrative roles within her club, in Vaudreuil Dorion. She was a voracious reader, and a dedicated volunteer, generously giving her time to the Dorval Library and the gift shop at Lakeshore General Hospital.
She leaves to mourn; her sons Yves (Moira Miller) and John (Wendy McGean); her five grandchildren, who fondly remember Friday night dinners at Grandmama’s house; two great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Denyse was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Valentine, her eldest son, Guy and her sister Monique -Andrée. The family extends heartfelt thanks for the care and compassion shown by the staff of CHSLD Bayview, as well as the Emergency, Internal Medicine, and Palliative Care teams at Lakeshore General Hospital. She was surrounded by family and music during her final days.
The family will receive condolences at Lakeshore Cardinal Funeral Home, 560 Lakeshore Drive, Dorval H9S2B3 on Sunday March 15 from 1 p.m to 3 p.m followed by a ceremony in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and stroke fondation or any other can be made.
