It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Camille "Kamik" Choquette on July 11, 2026

at the age of 78, after a long battle with cancer.

Camille had the heart of an adventurer and a passion for wildlife. He was deeply in love with the Arctic, whose incredible landscapes, magnificent people, and rich culture captivated him.

Camille found great joy in sharing his vast knowledge and vibrant experiences with those around him. For many, he was a ray of sunshine.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Sore Moller; his daughter Navarana and her husband Hugo, his son Nuka and his partner Caroline, his grandsons Leo and Noah, his brother Claude and his partner Monique, his sister Sylvie and her partner Jodi, his nephew Pascal and his partner Edit, many cousins and friends from the Voltigeurs, Nunavik, Greenland, Denmark and Canada and the loving community of his in-laws in Greenland.

Camille spent part of his youth in Banff where he became a mountain guide for the Canadian Mountain Guides Association, of which he was the first Quebec member.

In Nunavik he worked for the Quebec government for the MAPAQ, the Vieux Chimo muskox farm and within the Kativik Regional Government.

Upon returning to Montreal, he obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Montreal.

He worked in Ottawa at the Department of Indian Affairs for 15 years until his retirement.

His summers were devoted to boat trips, kayaking, canoeing, hunting, cycling, climbing, and camping. His activity was boundless and endless. Summer ended with preparations for winter projects: skiing, dogsledding, and snowmobiling for another expedition to the Torngat Mountains.

Camille lived a life of unforgettable experiences; his unimaginable perseverance has left a lasting impression on us.
