Christel Ment
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Christel Ment, at the age of 98.
Born in Duisburg-Hamborn, Germany, Christel immigrated to Montreal in 1953. After working various jobs, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to open the Somerled Day Nursery in 1964, followed by Garderie Girouard in 1987, leaving a lasting impact on generations of children.
Predeceased by her longtime partner, Gunther, she will be dearly missed by her brother Anton, her nieces Belinda (Hans), Stephanie (Michael), and Jennifer (Sam); her nephew Michael (Christanti); her great-nieces Kaitlyn and Alyssa; and her great-nephews Jonathan, Adrian, Alexander, and Aris.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the entire staff at CHSLD Bayview for the exceptional care and compassion they showed our beloved Christel.
The family will receive condolences at Lakeshore Cardinal Funeral Home on Saturday, August 22nd at 1:00PM, followed by a funeral in their chapel at 2:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to consider making a donation in Christel’s memory to the SPCA, or another charity of your choosing.
